Diversified Nutrition Promotion through the Nutrition Project

Among the various activities under Nutrition Project, Different types of vegetables and fruit plants such as lychee, lemon, pomegranate, moringa, banana plants were distributed in the diversified nutrition garden targeting the nutrition of children, pregnant women and lactating mother. Farmers have also cultivated pesticide-free vegetables using organic fertilizers in diversified nutrition gardens. By consuming the green and fresh vegetables produced in the diversified nutrition garden, the farmers have saved the cost of buying vegetables from the market, and by selling the produce in the market, they have also raised household expenses.

through Kisan Card: Rs 4,200 was provided to the old group of last year and Rs 15,500 to the new group of this year for the establishment and upgrade of nutrition garden. Through the Kisan Card, the farmers bought seeds of different varieties of vegetables, fertilizers, agricultural tools, fruit plants, ducklings, chickens and cages. Last year, 2,000 people from 90 groups participated and this year, 6,000 people from 177 groups participating.

The activities under the nutrition project are being conducted in Sirha, Saptari and Udaipur districts by the National Farmers Group Federation, Nepal with the support of CARE Nepal and the local municipalities.
